What a gauss meter does
The instrument reads magnetic flux density directly in gauss at the point where the probe is placed. It gives a static measurement. Hold the probe at the measuring position and the meter displays the field strength there. Gauss meters are used on magnets, magnetic separators, relays, DC motors and speakers, and they suit online production testing and air-gap measurement in loudspeakers and motors.
Build
The meter is housed in a plastic casing that can stand on a bench or be carried. The LED display is clearly visible from all angles. Hand-held versions let a technician walk the plant checking magnets. Padded carrying cases are optional.

Frequently asked questions
Why should I check my magnetic separator with a gauss meter?
Regular readings confirm the magnet is performing and help spot damage or loss of strength before contamination reaches your product.
Is a gauss meter the same as a magnetometer?
A gauss meter is a type of magnetometer used to measure the strength of a magnetic field.
