Wet slurry electro magnetic separator
Slurry flows through a semicircular chamber under a rotating stainless steel drum with a fixed magnet assembly inside. Magnetic particles are drawn to the drum and discharged separately, and non-magnetic liquid leaves by its own outlet. A cylinder of permanent magnetic discs inside the drum creates the strong, high-gradient field. The separator also handles abrasive media mixed with water, such as the water recovered from blast cabinets.

Wet high intensity magnetic separator
WHIMS units are used to separate magnetically susceptible particles from mineral slurries and process water. They can be installed without disturbing the existing line, built to match conveyor dimensions, and supplied in varying sizes. Fewer separators, pumps and pulp distributors are needed than with lower-intensity circuits, which cuts floor space, building and operating costs.

Frequently asked questions
What is WHIMS used for?
WHIMS separates weakly magnetic (paramagnetic) minerals from slurries, for example removing iron-bearing minerals or recovering a magnetic concentrate.
How is it different from a wet drum separator?
Wet drums suit strongly magnetic material like magnetite. WHIMS is used when particles are only weakly magnetic.
